The Tailem Bend Community Centre was opened to the community on July 28 1987 and was established due to a demand for a facility that could provide required social and educational services to the community.
Initially the Centre was staffed by volunteers. The commitment and vital role these volunteers have shown to the Community is still present today.
The Centre provides services that are both affordable and easily accessible and maintains an "open door" policy to the public.
The Community Centre is supported by Coorong District Council who employs a Coordinator for the Tailem Bend Community Centre. The position is funded by Home and Community Care. The Coordinator, along with the assistance of many dedicated volunteers, provides services to persons visiting the centre including the aged, disabled and the disadvantaged. The Coorong District Council also provides administrative and human resources support with regard to the HACC funding and Coordinator position as well as a Council rate subsidy.
The Adult Community Education programs focus on areas of need and interest that have been identified within the Community.
The Centre also offers
